VP, Head of Digital Engineering, APAC

Job Summary

Lead the end-to-end technology development and engineering of the Zurich Edge Platform, supporting the growth of Zurich’s digital business across APAC. This role will drive engineering excellence, platform scalability, speed to market and the SaaS agenda, while ensuring secure and reliable production operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end application development, deployment and production operations for the Zurich Edge Platform.
• Define and execute the technology and engineering roadmap aligned with business priorities.
• Lead and develop high-performing engineering teams.
• Drive the SaaS agenda, focusing on platform scalability, reuse and delivery efficiency.
• Establish strong engineering, DevOps, CI/CD and Agile practices to enable frequent multi-country deployments.
• Provide technical oversight across architecture, design, development and technology selection.
• Ensure robust information security, monitoring, observability and production reliability practices.
• Evaluate emerging technologies, frameworks and tools to continuously improve engineering capabilities.
• Partner with senior business and technology stakeholders to translate strategic priorities into delivery.

Experience & Skills

• 10+ years of technology/software engineering experience, including experience in senior engineering or technology leadership roles.
• Personally owned a major platform end-to-end. Demonstrates deep technical authority, made key architecture/technology decisions, challenged existing approaches, scaled across multiple markets, and clearly quantifies significant business impact.
• Proven experience leading engineering/development teams and owning large-scale digital platforms.
• Strong technical knowledge of Java, Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, JavaScript/ReactJS, PostgreSQL, AWS and Docker.
• Strong experience in cloud engineering, DevOps, CI/CD, Agile and microservices architecture.
• Experience driving SaaS/platform strategies and building scalable, reusable technology solutions.
• Ability to review and challenge technical designs, architecture, frameworks and code.
• Strong senior stakeholder management and influencing skills.
• Experience in financial services, insurance or regulated industries would be advantageous.
• Relevant technology qualifications and/or certifications preferred.
